In so many words, the Foundry told me to sod off. When I expressed my dismay about this, I asked them if they could refund me, since I was never able to get it to work. They never told me about this in all of our communications. While I was going back and forth with them the second time, I accidentally learned that The Foundry had actually discontinued the CameraTracker product many months earlier. I went through the same BS with them, and never got it to work. Then things got super busy for me, and it fell off my radar until nearly a year later when I needed to use it. I purchased a floating license of CameraTracker AE, and despite weeks of back and forth with them, troubleshooting on getting the licensing to work, I never was able to get it to work. If you have to use cracked software, don't do it while connected to the internet. So long story short, if you care about privacy it's best to avoid The Foundry products. They saw his machine while he was remotely connected to our network. Turns out one of our compositors was using a cracked version of Nuke at home. They provided me with the IP address and machine ID and asked us to look into it. 6 months later I get an email saying that they detected illegal Nuke software on our network. They informed me that they had on record that we had been using illegal Nuke software and if we wanted to make a purchase we would have to pay a fine with them.which included a few licenses of Mari. But when I reached out to a Foundry rep I was forwarded to someone who handled security. Nuke was the last purchase I had to make because of how expensive it is.

So after 2 years of hard work I finally got our animation team up and running completely on licenses software.

The company I currently work for made heavy use of pirated software (including Nuke) before I showed up and started cleaning house. Nuke monitors your activity and communicates it to the Foundry. But they sure as shit have you IP address if you ever used Nuke while connected to the internet.

You might not get an email if you don't have a user account with them.
